West Bardera Maternity Unit or Xarunta Ummulaha Galbeedka Baardheere is a part of Bardera Maternity Hospital. This unit was created in 2008 to cover the prenatal and maternity needs of West Bardera residents. 

As there is limited transportation system, the residents of west side of the Jubba River had difficulty utalizing the health serivces available at East Bardera Mothers and Childrens Hospital, now called Bardera Maternity Hospital.

Shortly after the creation of West Bardera Maternity Unit, other cities, particularly Abudwak and Nasriyaha, of Galgaduud, and Lower regions, respectively, sought to create maternity centers similar to Bardera's and organizers contacted SEHO for assistance.  Abudwak Maternity Hospital was in the plans since early 2007.

These two Bardera health centers provide some of the basics of health care in the district of Bardera in Gedo region. The pharmacy of the hospital system is located in the main hospital section in the east of Bardera on the main road in town. Nurses, midwives and the junior pharmacist on the East Unit of Bardera Maternity Hospital make regular scheduled visits in the new Unit. 

The new West Unit has one of the most experienced midwife in Bardera  and she is midwife Fadumo Mohamed Elmi.  She has an assistant midwife and an office manager working with her. Bardera Maternity Hospital's Westside Unit has staff of 4 people including a midwife, assistant midwife, office assistant and a security person. All expenses from this unit is paid by SEHO on monthly basis.
